The rose leaf, tinted by the first light. Small oval leaves, edges finely cut, pink at the heart and pale at the rim, layered along slim dark branches until the stem is full.

We didn't imitate the season. We held it still. Every leaf a slightly different blush, every edge cut fine, every branch curving where it would on its own.

Five stems in a mid-height vase, fanned wide. Or alongside white blooms and pampas, as the soft tone that ties them.

No water. No falling leaves. No fading. Only the same pale blush, year after year.
